Gr8 job n8,
It is always quite difficult to blend new texture into old & achieve perfect results. How did it look when you finished it up with painting over it? - did you paint the whole ceiling or just touch it in locally?

Looks good Nate. I have found myself doing a lot of acoustic ceiling work lately. Some scrape down and turn to slick and some repair and restore jobs. We have been getting hit with heavy storms so roof leaks and what not.

Re: Knockdown ceiling crack repair & Repaint
Sean I know what you mean man.  This is one niche I am working on.  It pays really well, and for a good reason.  You need to be able to make it look right.  I got a bad batch of quick mud and this stuff was cooking off in a couple minutes past stirring it to consistency.. it would have looked alot better had it not set off fast.  I had to work quickly with it and didn't get to feather it out and work it into the surrounding areas enough for my own personal taste.  But it was not bad.  Customers were happy  Thumbsup

thanks btw!

Re: Knockdown ceiling crack repair & Repaint
They don't do much knock down here but I keep running into the popcorn.

Do you use a compressor and a hopper gun? That is what I use but when if I keep finding myself doing them I think I will trat myself to a Tex Sprayer.

Re: Knockdown ceiling crack repair & Repaint
Popcorn yes it is the texture sprayer, seriously get it it is worth every penny.  Funny those little guns are like airless sprayers.. they have a packing kit and all.  I got my RTX 1000 and the gun was known for a defect.  It lasted me a year and a half then I had to get a new gun because they discontinued it for the new gun.  That gun has been doing me right.  There is a whole other set of "tricks" you must do with these.. like they have a funky clear grease that you must keep on the air injector piece/to gun area.. among other things.

For these little knockdown areas I have a secret weapon.  that is what I did on this one, the popcorn I do by texture machine every time.  And if it is a big area that needs a knockdown on I will use the text machine and a 50-50 consistency thickness mud.  Thin enough to go out and make big splotches, yet thick enough it doesn't just run down the wall.

Sounds nice, I have been looking into them and if these popcorn jobs keep comming my way I am sure I will pull the trigger on one.
