What other product do others use instead of putty when repairing old putty around external glass. Primarily wb paint will be used on top

Repair Care Dry Seal springs to mind.

Although personal I still quite like putty, but the 2 part fast setting versions, like Hodgson Rapid Set Putty, quick bridging primer like Zinsser 123+ and you're good to go.

If it’s mainly smaller repairs then it’s +1 for Dry Seal. 3C do one but I’m not a big fan.
Possibly Toupret white if not in a hurry. Hodgson looks interesting.

I use the timbabuild putty in a mastic tube or the wickes or ever build acrylic putty in a tube. Squeeze it out like caulk and then tool into shape with a putty knife.

I'd be interested to know what that's like. Looks like you could use it as an exterior caulk also

Two part wood filler. Need to work quick though. Takes some skill to use this to putty windows but works extremely well and holds tight.

I can't see how 2 part would hold for long as it has no flex?

I agree brought 5 tubes of 3c, no where near as good as dry seal which you can rub down nicely too.
    Worth the extra money

If I remember, which I probably won’t, I’ll give them a bell tomorrow and ask.

As @rowland cutting has said a few times on here 2 part always fails eventually. It has no flex and cracks be better with epoxy resin on outsides for big fills and acrylic putty around glazing.
