Forgotton your password?
Scroll to the top of the forum page> Look for the black tab on the RHS which says "Log in/Sign in> Click that tab and you will see a drop down menu> Look for "Forgot Password" click that to begin the password recovery process.
Quoting a post/multiple posts has got easier!
We have the "+Quote" link to the bottom RHS of each post, to enable you to quote a particular post or multiple posts you wish to reply to.
You might find this easier perhaps...
We all know how to "Cut & Paste" text by highlighting the text, yes?
You can left click and highlight some of the text you'd like to quote> Once that is done you'll notice a little black "+Quote/Reply" tab appear on the highlighted text> Either click quote or reply> Clicking +"Quote" will add that text to "Multiple Quote"> Now scroll to the bottom of the page where the text pane is to "Write your reply"> You'll notice below that pane a grey button saying "Insert Quotes"> Click that and you have a window pop up with text you have highlighted from one post or multiple posts within that thread> Remove a quote as you wish then> Click "Quote These Messages" and the text gets placed into the pane> You can then add your reply below each text you have quoted.
Liking a Post.
Hit the "Like" link within the post area of the post you like.
It'll be bottom right of every post you see here on the forum.
Automatic Draft Save.
As you type your text for posting you may notice at the bottom RHS of the pane a little opaque message shows saying "Draft Saved" as you are composing text. Also, if you wish to save a draft yourself, look to the icon at the top of the pane where you type and look for the icon resembling a floppy disk> Click that and you can manually save a draft copy or delete.
Private Message (Conversation).
What we used to know on our other forum software as a PM, on this software it is called a "Conversation."
I'll still refer to it as a PM though!
To start a "Conversation (PM)"> Click or hover on your Profile link (your username) on the black bar below the forum logo, top RHS> Look for the "Conversations" link in the right hand column and click> In the blue bar top RHS you will see a button "Start a New Conversation"> that bit is self explanatory!
Changing Profile Preferences.
Click or hover on your Profile link (your username) on the black bar below the forum logo, top RHS> In the new drop down menu you will see a list of things you do within your profile from changing your Privacy, Avatar, People You Ignore etc.
Staying Logged In.
Some of you may have noticed that you log in, make a few posts, then get called by the wife for tea. You come back to PPS 61minutes later and you need to sign in again.
Annoying,,, I agree!!!
Unfortunately, this new forum has Online Timeouts.
Meaning = after a user interacts with the forum (by clicking a link etc.) they will be considered 'online'. They will be considered to be offline if they do not interact with the forum again within the time specified here - which is 60 minutes.
I cannot alter that, sorry!
You can over-ride that by checking the "Stay logged in" box when signing into the forum.
There's a time limit on post editing. Just in case you have forgotten to preview your post before hitting submit, then all of a sudden you feel you could have written that post better or you need to add something.
Should you miss your editing timescale, please don't make another full post with the addendum i.e. *(missed word entered here).
What we encourage you to do is report your post and then request that a mod edit your post on your behalf.
Tagging Members - @.
Did you know you can "tag" other members into a thread/post you are involved with?
All you need do is use the @ symbol and type their username after the @. When you start typing the username, the forum can autofill the rest and just click the correct name to tag them.
@ User tagging alerts other members when you mention them on the site. It's a good way of calling people into discussions if you want their advice/expertise or just giving a shout-out to forum friends.
Permalink - #19 (or whatever the post number is).
I've noticed @barry do this *(#19) above a few times and thought it may be an idea to let those that don't know about *Permalinks how you can use them here.
Rather than just typing #19 (or relevant post number) to refer to a post in a given part of a thread, you can click on the #19 at the bottom right of the post and it will open a new window > highlight the Permalink url at the top of that window > copy the link > close that window down once copied > then in your post where you are wanting to refer to e.g. #19 type out the post number you wish to refer to, highlight it with your mouse and click the link icon above left of the area where you are composing the post > this will open up a new window to where you will paste the Permalink and it will give you e.g. #19
Hope that makes sense?
I'll try and do a video when I get a moment to help the above make sense.
Thread Tags (Keywords) - adding them to your Thread
When you are composing your thread, just below the white text window you are typing in there is another wide window with "Tags:" written in front of it.
In there you can add tags relevant to your post. i.e. if your thread is about Non Paying Customers, you can add short tags (non paying, customers,).
Add long tailed tags (non paying customers,).
After each long or short tag place a comma after it and you will have created a "Tag".
Do Not place full stops after a tag or in the middle of a long tailed tag (commas only). Not mentioning any names here............. @Wayners
