Hiya good people. I’m a decorator of 27 years, been self employed for the last 11 years but still working for the same company I’ve been with since i started. Looking to change all that hopefully this year? Did a little portaflex spraying back in the days and never really took it any further than that until now. I’ve taken a great interest into spraying now and will be bombarding you good people questions ( sorry in advance ), I only do domestic work and big contracts for the national trust and the English heritage alike. I have a wealth of knowledge I’m happy to share and help anyone i can
    Many thanks
    James

Morning @jimmyc and welcome along mate
    Nice intro pal.

Had a few Portaflek/Portatone jobs when I used to sub. Enjoyed that!
Went on the course in Dagenham (a very quick course it was too)

Good morning mistcoat. Yeah that was way back in the days that! Then crown bought out the roll on version ( must have been at least 20 years ago? ) I’m hoping I’ll get to grips with spraying

Brentwood indeed, actually stondon massy is closer  Small world it is right. I’ve got the bug for spraying and an itch i need to scratch, I’ve bought myself an entry level airless and I’m also looking into the Graco 9.5 hvlp too for that finer finish? Interestingly I’ve been researching AAA! But the more I delve into it, the more of a rabbit hole it becomes? So rather than jump head first into AAA I’ll stick with airless and HVLP for the meantime

You will love the 9.5. I sold my Wagner XVLP to get the 9.5, you won’t be disappointed

I moved away, rat race now in Norfolk, where they drive so slow, I’m nearly taking root!

We’re looking to do the same this year, and move but we’re looking to move to Kent ( the in-laws need looking after)
Yeah the 9.5 seemed to fit the bill for me, it’s quite a comprehensive bit of kit to get started with? especially for bits of small furniture I find myself painting more of these days for customers. We’ll see how this journey turns out

    Thank you

    Thank you :notworthy:

    Good morning

    Welcome!
Do you ask the NT and English Heritage to remove all their valuable items before you start the jobs and you get there and they haven't?

It happens on a regular basis to be fair. But generally they are pretty relaxed with us making our own protection for items, it does get very bureaucratic and you have to have the patience of a saint. But the work is very rewarding and not everyone’s cup a tee so to speak.
