Me to. Cut mine bubbles with scissors. Problem is thin plastic can't be recycled but carriers have to insurance the goods stay safe.. Plastic is so cheap so you can't blame them for using however, carrying many different sized boxes is a problem. Different sizes don't stack well... Seen on TV... No answer to it

Packaging is a nightmare everything you buy is covered in it the person who can come up with a solution would be worth more than Amazon.....and don't get me started on them.

If you do have a solution please PM me......please

It’s a pet hate of mine. Love DD but honestly the packaging is poor. I’d happily pay more on post and packing if we could have lots less bubbles.
Waste cardboard stuffed down the sides and In between products and or smaller boxes would be a start.

We've just had a meeting to discuss your order. Because of the wide range of very different products we supply, and the different product mix on customers orders, it can be difficult to stock box types which are ideal for every order.

However, looking at your particular order, we can see that there are two better sized specialist boxes already available in our stores, that could have substantially reduced our packaging costs on this occasion. These are not currently used for general packaging, but we will make them available for general packaging by the end of this month.

That's really disappointing to hear. Considering the wide range of different products we sell, we've got an extremely low % figure for goods damaged in transit.

But we don't stand still. Every damaged delivery gets an investigation, and repetition will generally trigger a change in what we sell, and/or how we ship. And we are currently looking at new non-plastic packaging ideas to improve on this, but they have to improve figures for damages in transit.

When goods are shipped nationally, they will go through an automated hub. These often have mountain sized slopes that shipping cartons tumble down. The mixed products we send out have to survive that abuse.

We invested in expensive German air bag machines, using 100% HDPE film, that shrinks to less than 1% of their filled size. We specified natural (uncoloured), and unprinted (no ink), 100% PE film (no mixed plastic types) for the easiest possible recycling. There is a market for the clean, dry, uncoloured, unprinted film we use.

It is disappointing that the UK doesn't recycle more plastic film. Unfortunately that has been confounded by poor quality comingled waste collection, lack of technology for waste sorting, and the far too easy option to dispose of low grade waste paper and plastic by shipping it off to China. But things will improve, it's an industry problem, and it will get sorted.

Hi DD, I've never had a damaged delivery from yourselves so my comments about poor packaging are only ment about the amount of bubbles that need popping and disposing of. Badly worded by myself so apologies to your good selves. My pet hate is throwing perfectly good things in the bin, I'd love to be close enough to yourselves to save all bubbles up and drop them back for reuse.
Glad you've taken the time to explain your position and good to know you've got to the trouble of sourcing the type of plastic you use.

Another great response from one of our sponsors.

Its a difficult subject with packaging we moan when its not packaged correctly and moan with too much of it.

But out of all my DD orders I have never had a damaged one.

To be fair I have had the same with the box size and large amounts of bags but great that DD have taken action and listened to us guys.

    Well done DD:thumbsup:
